While pregnant with my last baby I spent several months hoping she would be born after Halloween so I could plan the perfect fall festival 1st birthday party. The fall theme seems like endless options with inspiration everywhere. When I think about fall, I immediately imagine hayrides, pumpkins, hot chocolate, apple cider, apple picking, leave piles and of course, the beautiful colors. My daughter’s birthday is November 4, so for her 1st birthday party, a fall harvest theme seemed liked the perfect fit! It’s a great theme for birthdays because there is so many options for activities for the little ones and adults. I designed my entire backyard into a fall harvest festival complete with a pumpkin patch, pumpkin + face painting, a bouncy castle, sand art, and a scare-crow and pumpkin cutout for people to take pictures behind. I set up all the festival favorites such as cotton candy, caramel popcorn and pink + orange candy bar. For the favors, everyone took home their own caramel apple with a chevron personalized tag. It would not be a complete fall party without apple cider and hot chocolate for the kids while adults enjoyed Oktoberfest beer and apple cider sangria. I displayed a pumpkin inspired birthday cake and covered the backyard in hand painted pumpkins! I also personalized water bottles and Chinese take out containers with labels saying “Chistina’s first birthday!” The pumpkin patch also made a great picture backdrop for party guests. I hope this inspires you this fall. Now it’s time for me to plan her second birthday party.
